I offer the following services:

Translation

I translate from Simplified/Traditional Chinese into English. All my clients communicate with me through the internet. Documents are sent via emails, YouSendIt or FTP servers. The document formats I work with are: MS Office, Frontpage, Pagemaker 7.0, Photoshop 7.0, QuarkXpress Passport, Framemaker 8.2, Indesign CS, Illustrator CS, Acrobat 6.0, SDLX 2003 and Trados 6.5. I specialise in business, legal and medical translation.

Proofreading

Besides translation, I also offer proofreading service. I match the translation against the source text to make sure it is accurate and nothing is missed out. I polish the final text to make it sound fluent and appealing to native English speakers. I also work on the layout and format so that the final document looks professional and presentable. I need to evaluate the translation before accepting the proofreading job. This is because some translations are done by non-native English translators with very poor command of English and it is simply impossible to make miracles out of them.

DTP

I enjoy doing DTP very much. It is not only work to me but also a passion. I work with the following DTP software: Pagemaker 7.0, QuarkXpress Passport, Framemaker 8.2, Indesign CS and Illustrator CS. I realised many DTP professionals who work with Chinese texts do not have any knowledge of Chinese. They often make serious mistakes such as starting a line with a punctuation mark or using the wrong inverted commas. Most DTP work goes into print, so imagine the loss incurred when one realises the Chinese text in the brochure or booklet does not look right to Chinese readers! I am a very precise, meticulous and quality-conscious worker. I take time and effort to make sure your text is presented neatly and professionally.
